Photojournalistic Wedding Photography in Phoenixville & Philadelphia

We book anywhere from 2 months to 24 months in advance for wedding coverage - so if you're ready and you're interested in having us photograph your event, send us a message asap! We only photograph one event per day, so when we're booked, we're booked! We strongly recommend with ANY date bound vendor that you love to snatch them up quickly and lock it in with a contract. It's $1,000 to lock in your wedding date with us, and that retainer goes toward your collection. Heads up: The Spark can't be booked more than 18 months out, elopement collections open 60 days before the date, and holiday dates have a higher minimum. Just ask.

How far in advance should we plan to book you for our photography needs?

Fox & Brazen's style is... wedding photography. Yes, really. Stick with me here.

On your wedding day, we blend three styles: photojournalism, editorial, and candid. That means we're catching your dad losing it during the first look AND creating bold, magazine-worthy portraits AND sneaking up on that forehead kiss when you think nobody's watching. (We're always watching. In the least creepy way possible.)

Jen got her start in newspaper photojournalism back in 2004, so documentary storytelling is in our DNA. We love the real stuff. And every single image is color corrected, cropped, and retouched in-house before it ever hits your inbox. No filters. No shortcuts.

Hint: if you love what you see on our website and socials, you're going to absolutely fall in love with your gallery. Our job is to make you look amazing while keeping it totally, authentically you.

How would you describe your photography style?

"We never say no to bringing your doggo to be in front of our camera - I'd probably bring my dogs everywhere if I could bring them (wouldn't grocery shopping be MUCH more interesting?). We recommend bringing along a person to your session who is a dedicated dog watcher and wrangler - this way someone can make sure your pup has the proper amount of attention and can hold the leash while we photograph just the two of you.

Just as a heads up, even if we're 100% cool with your dog being present, you'll need to check with your portrait location. Sometimes we photograph at locations where pets are not allowed (like Longwood Gardens) - so make sure you read the fine print before you select your locations!

Side note: I had someone ask if they could bring their goat - if you have a pet goat, met at a goat yoga class, make goat cheese together as a hobby, or own a goat farm together then sure - that sounds like a super fun addition to your session (but only if they're house broken or you're prepped to clean up after your four-legged friend)!"

Can I bring my dog? Or horse? What about a goat?

We require a $1,000 non-refundable date hold retainer and a signed contract to lock in your date; it goes toward your collection. The rest is split into payments (usually four; at least three if your wedding is 9+ months out), with the last one due two weeks before your wedding.

How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due?

There's no hour count to watch. We start about halfway through hair and makeup and stay through your last dance or your collection's end time (9pm, 10pm or 11pm) — whichever comes first. Need more? Extra hours are always available.

How many hours is full-day coverage?

If included with your collection, a 'same day' sneak peek lands on social media by your post-wedding brunch, a BIG sneak peek gallery follows in 1–2 weeks, and your full online gallery (700–900 images, edited by Jen) launches around 10-12 weeks. Albums and wall art are designed after that.

When do we get our photos?

Short Answer: Yes.
Long Answer: Yes. Professional hair and makeup will enhance your best features as well as give you more confidence in front of the camera. A great makeup artist will analyze your face to create a look that is fresh, polished, and flattering - this will help downplay any blemishes or discoloration and bring out the twinkle in your eyes. One of the best parts of a professional makeup artist is they have knowledge in prepping your face for the the lighting we use to create a professional portrait.

Do you recommend hair and makeup for the engagement session and wedding?

Oh. My. Gosh. Destination weddings and portrait sessions are some of our absolute FAVORITE types of sessions to photograph!!! Put us on a plane stat!

How far will we go? Wherever your love story takes you! Our portfolio includes incredible destinations like Italy, Disney World, Iceland, Hawaii, Mexico, and the islands. We love working with couples who share our passion for adventure and want to capture that spirit in their photos.

Prefer to stay closer to home? Some of the best locations are right in our backyard. From Philadelphia to New York and Baltimore, we’re happy to accommodate with our full-day coverage service.

Do you travel for weddings or engagement sessions?

All the photos delivered from your wedding will be color corrected and cropped. For the bride and groom, we can remove any temporary blemishes (marks that typically disappear within two weeks like pimples or shaving cuts) and anything that is printed in our heirloom products we do a deep dive into retouching for a more extensive photo finishing. Check out some of our before and after images for some editing magic! All our editing is done in-house by Jen.

Do you provide retouching, color adjustment, or other corrective services?

We absolutely adore unique themes and props for an engagement session if they are important to you and your fiancé(e). Some of our favorite sessions combine hobbies and activities of both individuals for a fun mashup. Other sessions couples come together to share their combined love for something or someone (like their pup!).

If you'd like to incorporate props or an intricate theme into your engagement session, we encourage you to email us prior to the date to discuss. Some props and ideas are more complicated than others and we want to make sure we can incorporate it into what we have planned for our time together. Sometimes we choose locations (like Longwood Gardens) that do not allow props (like signs or balloons) - so it's always good to check with us first!

How do you feel about props or a theme at our engagement session?

Yes... and no (at the same time).

Yes, we LOVE knowing what types of images you'd like to see in your wedding gallery. We require you to provide us a shot list for family photos so we know exactly whom you'd like included in your photos. A family shot list also lets us know how much time is needed for the traditional group shots and how much time we can use during your portrait time to get creative.

 We also love knowing you want a photo taken at night in front of the twinkle lights at the venue, or a photo taken on the bench where you met. Perhaps you want a photo taken with your Dad drinking coffee in the morning during hair and makeup or your doggo giving you a kiss once you get into your dress. We LOVE knowing these little details for your photography wish list. On the other hand...

We do not recreate other photographer's work and we will not copy your Pinterest Board one-for-one during your engagement session or on the wedding day. We want YOUR moments and YOUR photographs to be uniquely you and tell your beautiful love story.

Can we request a list of specific shots we would like?

Fox & Brazen's wedding photography collections are designed to include the most popular options for coverage, digitals, and print products. We will help advise you on which collection fits your wish list the best so there is no need for any upgrades or purchases beyond your initial investment. We do find that post wedding many of our clients chose to use some of their monetary gifts to upgrade and add to their heirloom products (albums and wall art) to display some of their favorite moments from their wedding and engagement.

Post wedding, you may always add additional digitals or products. We do offer an amazing line of wall art which is a perfect way to showcase a fantastic moment from your big day. After your initial experience investment, our wall art starts at $1.25 per square inch and our albums begin at $750. Some individuals spend $500 highlighting their event in physical products, others spend $5,000, but the important thing to note is these heirloom products are made to last beyond your lifetime (for those future generations!) with their amazing craftsmanship and handmade beauty imported from Italy. We are creating a product that will outlive us all.

Do I have to purchase anything beyond what is included in my collection?

There is a good chance we have photographed at your venue... and there is a good chance we haven't photographed at your venue. If you enter "Philadelphia" on theKnot there are 656 wedding venues alone listed for this city. To photograph at every single one of them, we'd have to photograph a wedding every day for almost 2 years straight.

We're VERY good at showing up at a new location and finding the best charm to include in your photographs. Typically a five minute location scout of the property on the wedding day gives us plenty of options for hours of photography - usually we find twice the number of locations that time permits.

Have you ever shot a wedding at our ceremony and reception venues?

Well that's a loaded question! Haha! Why should you hire us? Because we're going to do a kick-ass job creating heirloom imagery from your wedding with a smile on our face the entire time! We also love, well, LOVE and we totally believe in happily ever afters!

We jokingly describe ourselves as, "belt, suspender, and rope kinda people..." - but the truth is, you're never going to catch us with our pants down because if the belt fails the suspenders got us, and if the suspenders aren't going to do the trick the rope certainly will keep our pants up. We have backups for our backups and we're quick witted and able to turn on a dime. We have ten plus years of wedding events in our experience tool belt and we're excited to have the opportunity to be your photographers!
